When will Outer Banks Season 3 be released on Netflix? This is a question that fans of the hit Netflix series have been asking for quite some time and is a question that we’ve been trying to answer. However, it’s not a question that people are willing to answer, and I’m not sure why. That said, we do have some information to share with you on that front that might be quite exciting. So, let’s get into it.
Before we carry on with this article, I have to warn you that not all of the answers are out there at the moment. However, the minute we get any new information from our own sources, the show’s actors, producers or even Netflix themselves, we will update this article. So, without any further ado, let’s talk about Outer Banks Season 3’s release date.
When will Outer Banks Season 2 be released on Netflix?

You first need to know that the third season is happening. That was revealed not too long after the second season was released. There were rumours that Netflix might have opted to cancel the show. However, we were informed that Netflix was moving forward with the third season, and we were then confirmed to be correct when the streamer revealed the news themselves.
So, that’s the good news for you. The not-so-good news is that we don’t have an exact date for Outer Banks Season 3. However, we have some information to share with you on that front. But, before we get into all of that, let’s talk about how the production of the third season went. It was revealed on February 28th, 2022, by Outer Banks’ official accounts that the third season had gone into production.
Not too long ago, we interviewed Cullen Moss, who plays Deputy Shoupe in the series, and he revealed that they were almost finished filming the third season. That was back in June, and the series finished filming in September. So, with that in mind, we were thinking that the third season was going to be released towards the beginning of 2023.
Netflix then released a first-look teaser at the show’s third season during their TUDUM global event. That teaser revealed that the third season was going to be released in 2023. So, we’ve been doing some digging since then, and we’ve now got a release window to share with you. According to a source we reached out to with close ties to Netflix and knowledge of what’s going on with this series behind-the-scenes, the third season “should be released towards the beginning of 2023“.
We then pushed the source for more information on the show’s release date, and they said it would be released within the first five months of 2023. I know. That’s a long time frame. However, often Netflix doesn’t really have an accurate release date for upcoming seasons of their shows until pretty close to release. Now, my best guess for when the third season will be released would be April 2023. However, it could be released before that.
What could happen in the third season?

OK. So, let’s talk about what could happen in the third season. It seems as though some pretty big things are going to happen in this upcoming season. During an interview with Metacritic, Elizabeth Mitchell — who plays the scheming Carla Limbrey in the series — gave us a little tease of what’s to come for her character in season three. Here’s what she had to say on the matter:
I do get to hang out with Big John (Charles Halford) quite a bit, which is lovely, because he’s terrific.
Outer Banks Season 2’s final scene teased this partnership. The scene saw Big John telling Limbrey he would help her find the shroud with healing powers if she agreed to help his son John B. Mitchell then spoke about her character and Big John spending a lot of time together in season three. Here’s what she had to say on the matter:
I don’t know if you’d call it ‘teaming up,’ but they are indeed together a great deal of the time, especially in the first part.
If you’re a fan of the show, then you’ll know that Limbrey isn’t a character that can be trusted. She did kill her half-brother in Season 2, after all!. Here’s what Mitchell had to say about her character’s motivations throughout the show:
I don’t know that Limbrey is really a team player, let’s just say that.
