Oscar Isaac (A Most Violent Year, Star Wars) has been confirmed as joining the Sony Pictures movie based on the game of the same name Metal Gear Solid in the titular role of Solid Snake. This news comes to us via Deadline.
The casting was announced earlier today. The movie based on the 1998 game released on the Sony Playstation has long been in development hell. Only just recently had we posted an article explaining the problems it had faced (and mentioning Isaac up for the role) and this news is a huge welcome surprise.
The film is to be helmed by director Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kong Skull Island) whom recently posted on Twitter that he was open to the idea of such a casting after viewing a fan poster. It seems he didn’t wait long to get his wish.
The Metal Gear Solid & the Metal Gear series was the brainchild of acclaimed video game creator Hideo Kojima and published by Konami. Since 1987 the series has created a hugely entertaining and highly rated set of stories and games around action-adventure and stealth and have sold over 56 million copies worldwide.
