Plot details are under wraps, but it’s believed that the film will be set in the present day.
Universal’s Dark Universe was short lived, but that may prove to be a blessing in disguise.
The studio is instead ramping up production on a number of individual monster movies.
Academy Award winner Chloe Zhao will direct a new Dracula film.
Additionally, a new iteration of The Wolfman, will be directed by Leigh Whannell and star Ryan Gosling.
Meanwhile, a Van Helsing film, directed by Julius Avery and produced by James Wan, is also in development.
It’s evident that the studio is choosing to focus on individual films, rather than build an elaborate shared universe.
If the excellent The Invisible Man is any indication, it seems as though the studio is heading in the right direction with their new approach to their collection of monster films.
