It’s been revealed that Netflix has found a director for the upcoming Fear Street movie, which will be the fourth in the franchise. According to iHorror, the upcoming Fear Street movie has found its new director in Chloe Okuno.
It seems as though they have found a director with a pedigree for making great horror movies and TV shows. Chloe has recently helmed the fantastic Watcher with Maika Monroe, as well as V/H/S/94.
The first three Fear Street movies took Netflix subscribers by storm. They were released one after and they were all directed by Leigh Janiak.
Leigh will not be returning to direct the fourth movie, but I would imagine that she would be involved in the project in some way, shape or form. My best guess is that Leigh would be a producer on the movie.
The next Fear Street movie has finally found its director

Honestly, I was really impressed by all three movies when they were released on Netflix back in 2021. The trilogy spanned multiple years. They took place in 1994, 1978 and 1666 (thus the movie’s titles).
Just in case you’ve forgotten what happened in each movie, I’ve given you a bit of a synopsis for each film below:
Fear Street Part One: 1994 – A circle of teenage friends accidentally encounter the ancient evil responsible for a series of brutal murders that have plagued their town for over 300 years.
Fear Street Part Two: 1978 – Shadyside, 1978. School’s out for summer and the activities at Camp Nightwing are about to begin. But when another Shadysider is possessed with the urge to kill, the fun in the sun becomes a gruesome fight for survival.
Fear Street Part Three: 1666 – The origins of Sarah Fier’s curse are finally revealed as history comes full circle on a night that changes the lives of Shadysiders forever.
Will there be more movies or maybe a TV show?

But, will there be more Fear Street movies or maybe a TV show beyond the fourth film and original trilogy? Well, in July 2021, director Leigh Janiak expressed interest in expanding the film series beyond the trilogy of movies.
She had stated to be interested in adapting a slasher film that takes place during the 1950s and centres on Harry Rooker/the Milkman. Moreover, the cast members of the original movies have also expressed an interest in returning to the franchise.
Then, in July 2022, Stine revealed that discussions are ongoing for additional films being developed in the series. We were also informed that Netflix was looking to make more movies in this franchise. Here’s what Stine had to say on the matter during an interview with Yahoo!:
I…hear rumours about more Fear Street movies for Netflix, because the first ones did so well last summer. Those films kind of shocked me, because they were all R-rated, and I’ve never done anything R-rated! All those teenagers were getting slashed. I was like, ‘Suddenly, I have a slasher movie!’
Bloody Disgusting then confirmed Stine’s statement and our exclusive article, stating that official plans would be announced in the future.
The original movies were based on books written by the legendary horror writer, R.L. Stine. We will be sure to keep you on further Fear Street developments.
