Taika Waititi is going to be making a new live-action Star Wars movie, and he’ll be co-writing the screenplay with Krysty Wilson-Cairns.
It’s not been much of a secret that Kathleen Kennedy has been keen on the idea of getting Waititi to direct a Star Wars movie.
The writer/director/actor/artist already directed the best episodes of The Mandalorian Season 1.
He’s very much hot stuff at the moment in Hollywood and everyone wants him to direct their big franchise movies.
Waititi is currently working on the next Thor movie for Marvel, Thor: Love And Thunder.
It’s now been revealed (via ComicBook.com) that Lucasfilm and Disney have hired him to make a future live-action Star Wars movie.

Disney announced that Waititi has officially signed on to direct a live-action Star Wars film.
This movie will get a cinema release. It will not come out on Disney Plus first.
They also revealed that he will be directing and co-writing the new Star Wars movie, and will be on the screenplay by Krysty Wilson-Cairns.
Wilson-Cairns is a fantastic screenwriter and is fresh off her Oscar nomination for her work co-writing 1917 with Sam Mendes.
She also co-wrote Edgar Wright’s next movie, Last Night in Soho.
