It’s being reported that Lucasfilm is working on a new The Mandalorian spinoff series for Disney Plus, and it’s coming from the mind of Jon Favreau. This report comes to us from entertainment insider Daniel Richtman via his Patreon page.
What I’m going to do before getting into the weeds of this story is warn you to take much of what Daniel Richtman puts on his Patreon page with a big pinch of salt. I’m not saying that he makes stuff up – many of his scoops have proven to be correct over the years.
All I’m saying is to remain cautious with some of what he says, and just keep an open mind and don’t take it gospel. That’s all. But, let’s get onto the fun stuff and start talking about what this potential Mandalorian spinoff series could be.
We’ve already had one spinoff show in The Book Of Boba Fett, which, let’s be honest, left a lot to be desired. We will be getting another spinoff show in the Ahsoka Tano series, which is set to be released later this year. There’s also Skeleton Crew, which I do believe will be tied to The Mandalorian in some way, shape or form.

There were plans to make another spinoff series which was going to be called Rangers Of The New Republic. However, the whole Gina Carano fiasco resulted in that series being shelved by Lucasfilm.
Well, it seems as though Lucasfilm and Jon Favreau now have plans to make another series which will be tied in some way to The Mandalorian. The only information that Ritchman has given about this series is that the project is currently codenamed “Ghost Track 17.”
Could this series be about Bo-Katan?

There are no specific details regarding the contents of the series nor the exact time period in which it will take place. However, we can speculate that this series might be a vehicle for Katee Sackhoff’s character, Bo-Katan Kryze.
She was going to play an important part in the Rangers Of The New Republic, and rather than get that project up and running again, Jon Favreau might have come up with another way to carry on Bo-Katan’s story arc in a new series.
Again, this is all just speculation on my behalf. I have no insider information about this rumoured Mandalorian spinoff show. However, it would make sense for them to make a spinoff series focusing on Bo-Katan and the other Mandalorians in the Star Wars universe.
The Mandalorian Season 3 is going to be released late this year on Disney Plus. We’ve already had a trailer for the third season, and it looks pretty darn good!
