It’s now being rumoured that Netflix is working on an Umbrella Academy movie, which would be an interesting way to finish the series. This rumour comes from “insider” Daniel Richtman, who has a lot of these sort of scoops on his Patreon page.
This is something that would honestly surprise me, mainly because it’s really not something that Netflix does. As far as I’m aware, they have never made a movie of one of their hit TV shows.
The Umbrella Academy Season 3 is officially happening. We know that much. And, as far as I’m aware, the plan is to make at least four seasons. Now, they could end up turning that fourth season into a movie, but I’m not sure why they would do that.
Netflix could be thinking of making an Umbrella Academy movie

Now, they could think that it would make more sense to turn Season 4 into a movie because of all the restrictions placed upon them due to COVID-19. What I do know is that The Umbrella Academy Season 3 will not be the end of the show.
Perhaps making a movie would make sense for Netflix economically. It could end up costing them less to make a movie rather than a full season of the show. There’s also the fact that it might be difficult for Netflix to get all of the stars of The Umbrella Academy to return for a fourth season.
The show features some very in-demand actors such as Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan and Aidan Gallagher. They’ve all seen their stars rise since being in the show, and it could be harder to get them all back for a fourth season.
