It’s being suggested that Namor (played by Tenoch Huerta) will be a mutant in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which is a bit of a deviation from the Marvel comic books.
Namor is a really interesting character in the Marvel comic books, and he’s coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
He’s going to be introduced in the upcoming Black Panther sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Namor is going to be played by Tenoch Huerta in the movie, and we got our first real look at his take on the character in the movie’s recent trailer which was debuted at Comic-Con in San Diego.
In the comic books, Namor is an Atlantean, but it seems as though Marvel Studios might not be going down that particular story route in the upcoming MCU movie.
Namor might be a mutant in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – not an Atlantean

Marvel’s description for the character fails to mention the fact that he’s Atlantean.
Hasbro Pulse revealed a listing for an action figure of Namor the Sub-Mariner from Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
The description for this new Marvel figurine revealed a major change to Namor’s backstory from the comics for his MCU debut.
On the big screen, he’ll be the ruler of a nation called Talocan (not Atlantis), an underwater civilization, instead of his usual kingdom of Atlantis.
The ruler of Talocan, an ancient civilization hidden in the depths of the ocean, Namor will stop at nothing to protect his people.
Talocan isn’t based on anything specifically from Marvel Comics.
However, it does seem as though the name is similar to a place from Aztec legend called Tlālōcān.
This place is known as the culture’s paradise for those who have died by drowning or lightning.
Why won’t Marvel make Namor an Atlantean in the MCU?

So, it does seem as though Marvel is trying to avoid similarities between this movie and Aquaman.
The first Aquaman movie made it very clear that Jason Momoa’s Aquaman was the ruler of Atlantis.
Therefore, it seems as though Marvel is going to change Namor’s backstory.
Some are even claiming that they are going to make the character a mutant.
This theory comes from the likes of Mikey Sutton over at Geekosity, and I think that he’s right on the money here.
