The long-awaited adaptation of one of the most popular video game franchises of all time, Minecraft, has a new release date. We truly hope this is the final one, and we won’t have to wait too long. The first hint regarding the Minecraft Movie came on February 27, 2014, when Notch, the creator of Minecraft, stated on Twitter that he wanted to share the news that Mojang is working on a movie with Warner Bros.
A few years later, Mojang announced that the Minecraft film would be released on May 24, 2019 “in 3D & IMAX.” But that day passed without the much-anticipated Minecraft live-action film being released. As a result, it missed the second deadline, and a new director joined the project in 2022.
However, the Minecraft film has not been scrapped. The release date was pushed back even further because of the COVID-19 epidemic. According to the latest data, Warner Bros. has set a new release date for the Minecraft film: April 4, 2025. So mark your calendars and hope it doesn’t get delayed any more.
