Michael Sheen Is The Favourite To Be Next Doctor Who

It’s been revealed that Welsh actor, Michael Sheen is now the favourite to be named as the next Doctor in Doctor Who.

You know what, I would love him to take on the role.

However, something tells me that he might not want it.

This was revealed by bookmakers William Hill who now have the actor at 6-4 joint-favourite for the role.

The other favourite for the role is Years & Years front man, Olly Alexander.

He’s also one of the stars of Russell T. Davis recent hit show, It’s A Sin, and was brilliant in that show.

Interestingly enough, Sheen has already worked with previous Doctor, David Tennant in Amazon Prime Video’s Good Omens.

He’s filming Season 2 of that show as we speak.

Could he follow that show up by filming the next season of Doctor Who? Possibly.

Michael Sheen would be an excellent Doctor in Doctor Who

As for the current Doctor, Jodie Whittaker, she recently revealed that she’s already filmed her regeneration scene/

The 39-year-old became the show’s first female lead back in 2017 and is due to hand over her keys to the Tardis after this Autumn’s series, titled Flux, which begins on October 31, and three specials scheduled throughout 2022.

Here’s what she had to say about it on BBC One’s Graham Norton Show:

They are never going to tell me who it is. […] We filmed some scenes, but the new Doctor wasn’t there. I wasn’t there for Peter (Capaldi), and I only met him months later when I passed him in the street!

Russell T. Davies is returning as Doctor Who’s showrunner for the next season.

It does seem as though Alexander would be a more obvious choice for Davis.

However, so is T’Nia Miller, who’s the third favourite at 7-1.

Another big name to have been regularly mooted is Michaela Coel, star of I May Destroy You, and she is priced at 10-1.
