Over 19 years since the release of Konami and Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater on the PlayStation 2, a remake has been announced for PS5. Currently in development and long rumoured on Internet forums for the past 18 months, the game was shown during the PlayStation Showcase last week, and a short trailer for the game was released.
The team stated they are “working hard” to create a “faithful recreation” for fans and newcomers to the series. The game follows the character of Naked Snake (voice by David Hayter), who is dropped into a rescue mission of a Soviet Scientist who defected from Russia to the US.
Dealing with themes of the cold war, survival, espionage and some infamous cutscenes and James Bond-esque scenarios, the game received rave reviews on its original release and sold almost 60 million copies. It was announced after the showcase that the game would also come to Xbox and Microsoft Windows platforms, but there was more.
