Men In Black Series In Development

Men In Black might be getting a new series. This news comes to us from Giant Freakin Robot. This actually comes seven months after they previously posted about a Men In Black series being in development. Back then, they said that it could be a prequel series. However, now they don’t seem too sure. The report suggests that Amazon Studios is developing this new series for their streaming service.

The movies were pretty darn good. Well, when I say “the movies”, I mean the first two. They are both pretty good and starred the likes of Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones and Vincent D’Onofrio. Since the first two were released, the franchise has been in a rather bad state. They’ve made four films in total. We’ve seen Men In Black, Men In Black II, Men In Black 3 and then Men In Black: International. The franchise’s third and fourth movies were both pretty bad.

Now, Giant Freakin Robot’s original report on this news didn’t tell us which streaming platform this new series could turn up on. However, they do suggest that Sony Pictures might want to work with Amazon Prime Video as far as this series is concerned. It’s a good idea because it really does seem as though Amazon is putting more effort into its new shows than any of the other streaming platforms. That said, it could very easily end up on the likes of Netflix and Apple TV Plus. The only streaming service that I know that this Men In Black series will not end up on is Disney Plus since they only make content around the IP Disney owns.

Well, in their new report, Giant Freakin Robot has revealed that this new Men In Black series is being developed by Amazon Studios. This means that Sony Pictures would have licenced the property out to Amazon, which I think is a really good idea. Some of Amazon’s recent shows have been brilliant. We’ve seen the likes of Reacher, The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power, The Boys and Outer Range have all been doing brilliantly!

Amazon is already developing a whole load of other shows that I am really excited to see. We’ve got new seasons of The Boys, The Wheel Of Time, Invincible and I’m pretty certain that The Rings Of Power Season 2 is already being planned as we speak. They’re also developing a Fallout TV show, which is bloody terrific news! They’ve seemingly added Men In Black to the list of properties that they are going to be working on making a new worldwide hit.

I’ve always felt that it is a brilliant franchise that deserves to be a whole lot bigger than it ended up being. I know that some people will be saying, “It got four movies, for God’s sake!” That is true. However, the last few movies didn’t perform well at the box office, and we haven’t seen anything from the franchise since the last movie was released back in 2019.
