It’s been revealed that Melissa Barrera wants to get a role in the upcoming Scary Movie reboot that was announced at this year’s CinemaCon.
Interestingly enough, the former Scream actress isn’t the only famous actor who wants to be a part of this upcoming horror comedy spoof film.
Bailee Madison (who you might have seen in the likes of The Strangers: Prey at Night, and who will be in the upcoming Pretty Little Liars: Summer School) has also revealed that she would love to have a part in this new Scary Movie sequel/reboot.
Madison revealed this news in a tweet posted the other night. Here’s what she had to say on the matter:
Random but scary movie 6 hit me up cause I just feel like we’d have fun okay bye

Back to Berrera. She was the star of the last two Scream films, but she ended up being fired from the upcoming Scream movie because of her support of Palestine.
Since then, she’s received considerable support from other actors and fans. She’ll be seen in the upcoming horror movie Abigail, which is receiving considerable positive buzz.
However, it seems as though she’s already got her sights on her next project, which could be the upcoming Scary Movie film.
“I always loved those movies,” Melissa Barrera revealed during an interview with Inverse. “When I saw it announced, I was like, ‘Oh, that would be fun.’ That would be so fun to do.”
She then added: “They have the iconic cast that did it, so we’ll see what goes on with that. I’m just excited to see a new one.”

It was revealed at CinemaCon 2024 that this upcoming comedy horror picture will be produced by Miramax and Paramount.
The original movie, directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans, was released in 2000. It was a spoof of Wes Craven’s Scream film, which I believe reinvented the slasher genre.
I always found it interesting that they made a spoof of Scream, which in itself was a bit of an ironic take on the slasher genre.
What do you make of this news?
