Warner Bros Pictures has moved a step closer to greenlighting a The Batman trilogy for Matt Reeves, which would be the right thing to do.

The Batman is about to be released worldwide, and it looks all set to make Warner Bros Pictures a lot of money at the box office.

Screenings for the movie have been booked up worldwide and the early reviews of the film have been very, very positive.

Our own review’s coming up later today, but I can let you know right now that I loved the film.

Anyway, we’ve been asking (a lot of) questions to our sources about whether Reeves will end up getting to make a Batman trilogy.

The writer/director has already revealed that conversations for a sequel to The Batman have started with Warner Bros.

At a red carpet event for The Batman (via @Bat_Source Twitter) Reeves revealed that he’s hopeful for a sequel.

I hope so, we’ll see — I mean for sure! I mean look, you don’t make number one as if there’s going to be number two. You have to make number one as if you are swinging for the fences and it has to be a movie that stands and lives on its own. But I really believe in what we’ve done and I’d be excited to tell more stories.

We are already telling other stories in the streaming space, we’re doing stuff on HBO Max, we’re doing a Penguin show with Colin which is gonna be super cool, and we’re doing some work on some other stuff too. But we have started talking about another movie, but, y’know, right now we’ll just put it out in the world and I’ll try to enjoy this.

We have been asking Warner Bros Pictures for a statement on a potential Matt Reeves The Batman trilogy.

We didn’t get a straight response from Warners themselves.

However, an insider did reveal to us that conversations for a Reeves Batman trilogy were already happening.

A source told us the following:

Matt Reeves and Warner Bros have been talking about a Batman trilogy. The early signs is that The Batman is going to outperform box office expectations. This is very good news for Reeves and Warner Bros.

They then went on to add:

A Matt Reeves Batman trilogy at this point is a certainty.

It’s the words “is a certainty” that gives me a lot of hope that Warner Bros will announce a Matt Reeves Batman trilogy pretty soon.

After having seen the movie for myself, I couldn’t stop thinking afterwards that Matt Reeves needs to be given a Batman trilogy.

As far as I’m concerned, Reeves nailed the film and deserves at least a sequel.

Robert Pattinson has already expressed a desire to make The Batman into a trilogy with Matt Reeves, saying during an interview with Fandango:

I’m down to do it as many times as people want to see it, really. Like, I mean… I’ve got to get this one out first! I’ve talked to Matt about the idea of doing a trilogy. I really, really enjoyed the process, and it’s such a fun character to play. And yeah, that’d be lovely.

It sounds like everyone involved in the making of The Batman is on-board.

It’s only a matter of time before Warner Bros Pictures makes the big announcement.
