Matt Reeves has been working on a Batman animated series, and it’s been revealed that the show could be heading to Netflix, which would be a good place for it. The Batman animated series is called Batman: Caped Crusader and Reeves has been working on the show with JJ Abrams. However, it was revealed not long ago that Warner Bros Discovery had opted to pass on the show for HBO Max. This means that it had to find a new home.
This is where other streamers became very interested in purchasing the streaming rights to the series. Naturally, given the people behind the show, there was a lot of interest in the series. It’s being made by Matt Reeves, Abrams and Bruce Timm. Timm made the original Batman: The Animated Series and has been working on animated DC Comics shows and movies ever since. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series is being shopped around, and one of the streamers circling the series is Netflix.

So, it seems as though Matt Reeves’ Batman: Caped Crusader is not dead. They are just looking for a new network or streaming platform for the show. They are looking for someone to license the series so that they can get working on it. It really seems as though Matt Reeves, JJ Abrams and Bruce Timm are all very keen on getting the show made and I think it would be a huge hit. It also seems as though selling the project to another streaming network would actually be more profitable for Warners Bros. Television rather than making it themselves. This would mean that Warner Bros Television would make the show, but another company would pay the bills.
Warner Bros Disovery is really not interested in spending the amount of money it the company was paying to get these HBO Max shows made. They would much rather just license their IPs out to other networks and have them pay for the shows to get made. It’s quite clever, but also means that HBO Max won’t have that much exclusive content to offer its subscribers.

Warner Bros. Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels said:
We have a ton of content that has been sitting idly for just purely principle reasons. The Lord of the Rings is a great [example]: It is a nonexclusive window [and] we look at it as what we are giving up versus what additional revenue we are generating.
It’s been revealed that Matt Reeves’ Batman: Caped Crusader is now being looked at by three streaming networks: Amazon Prime Video, Hulu and Netflix. All three of these shows have shows that have been made by Warner Bros. Television. The most obvious one at the moment is The Sandman, which is on Netflix and was actually made by Warner Bros. Television. Netflix just paid the bills to get the show made.
Warner Bros has also got a lot of revenue from Amazon Prime Video shows such as The Lord Of The Rings series since Amazon licensed the IP directly from Warners. This is one of the main reasons why the show is one of the most expensive shows ever made.
