It’s being reported that Marvel Studios is looking for a black director to helm their upcoming Blade film, which I am just so excited for.
The previous Blade movies were all directed by white men: Stephen Norrington, Guillermo del Toro and David S. Goyer.
To be honest, apart from Blade Trinity, I really loved the Blade movies.
I thought they were dark, dangerous and slightly amusing as well.
They were full of brilliant action and some incredible set pieces.
Wesley Snipes was brilliant as Blade and I think Blade II is still one of my favourite comic book movies of all time.
Anyway, it’s now being reported by The Hollywood Reporter that Marvel Studios has pushed back the movie.
They also added that Marvel is looking for a black filmmaker to direct the movie, which makes sense to me.

No names were mentioned, but I’ve heard that Marvel is tapping Shaka King to direct the movie.
More on that in a later article – keep an eye out for it here on Small Screen.
Stacy Osei-Kuffour is currently writing the film’s script.
It was set to go into production pretty soon, but Marvel has now pushed the film back.
They’ve also pushed the production of the movie from this September to July 2022.
So, it seems as though we’re going to have to wait a while until we get to see this first MCU Blade movie.
As it stands, the film will still star Mahersala Ali as Blade, which is just perfect casting.
