A Man Of Steel sequel is in the works over at Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films, and it seems as though we now know the movie’s title, and it won’t be Man Of Steel 2. This report comes to us via Mikey Sutton. Sutton is the founder and editor at Geekosity, and he revealed this information during a recent appearance on Syl Abdul’s YouTube channel. So, let’s get into the weeds of this story.
According to Sutton, a sequel is happening, and it’s going to be called Superman. That’s right, just Superman. I really love this idea, and it’s true that no other Superman movie that’s come before this has just been called Superman. I know, that’s a lot of ‘Superman’ in that sentence. Here’s what Mikey had to say on the matter:
They really want to brand that name, Superman, for the film. This is Superman. It’s not a guy who’s trying to be Superman. He is Superman already.

Sutton then went on to reveal that the movie’s star, Henry Cavill, is really into the idea of this upcoming sequel just being called Superman. I like it too! Here’s what Mikey had to say:
Cavill is really for this. He really wants this movie to be called Superman as well. He wants his Christopher Reeves moment. And if you think about, Syl, there’s never been a movie called Superman.
Sutton then went on to reveal that Warner Bros Discovery wants a fresh villain for this movie. Lex Luthor isn’t gone, but he’s not going to be the main villain of this upcoming Superman movie. This all sounds very, very exciting, and I can’t wait to see this upcoming sequel come to fruition. As Dwayne Johnson said in a recent interview, Superman has been kept on the sidelines for far too long. It’s now his time to shine!
What do you make of Superman as the movie’s title?

As far as the movie’s villain is concerned, I have a feeling that they might be looking at bringing Brainiac into the DC Universe, and I think he would be an excellent villain for Henry Cavill’s Superman to go up against. I also think moving away from Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor might be a good decision.
One more thing, Mikey also added that this upcoming movie would be a sequel to 2013’s DC Comics movie. This won’t be a reboot, which I also think is the best decision for DC Films to take. People want to see Cavill’s Superman back, and I think that there’s a lot more story to tell with his version of the character. Also, after it was revealed that Cavill would be back in Black Adam, it seems as though Warners is now fully behind Cavill as Superman.
Interestingly enough, Mikey’s new scoop does tie in pretty nicely with what we were told about Cavill being deep in negotiations with Warner Bros for a return as Superman to the DC Universe. Well, it looks like those negotiations have proven to be fruitful, and Cavill is now back!
This all comes after Dwayne Johnson revealed that a Black Adam Vs Superman movie was being planned. The movie star revealed this during an interview with CinemaBlend. So, in the interview, Johnson said that “the whole point” of bringing the DC Comics character to the big screen in his own standalone movie is so that one day he can make a Black Adam Vs Superman movie. Johnson has been asked time and time again by the fans whether his DC Comics character would ever get to fight Henry Cavill’s Superman in the DC Universe.
Moreover, during the interview with CinemaBlend, Johnson was asked directly if he “intends to make a movie where Black Adam fights [Superman].” Here’s what Johnson had to say to that question: “Absolutely. That is the whole point of this, man.” Johnson then continued:
I have been saying for some time, there’s a new era in the DC Universe that’s about to begin. And what I meant by that was introducing a brand new character. It’s not a sequel, not an existing IP. It was… you know, Black Adam. Two years ago the world had no idea who he was. We did, but not the rest of the masses out there. What I really meant by, ‘This is a new era in the DC Universe,’ is listening to the fans. And doing our best to give the fans what they want.
Black Adam is going to be released in US and UK cinemas on October 21st. Are you looking forward to watching the movie?
