Luna Nera Season 1 landed on Netflix way back in January 31st, 2020, and since then there’s been very little news on when Season 2 will be released.
Since the first season was released, there’s been virtually now news about when Luna Nera Season 2 will come to Netflix.
Just in case you haven’t heard of this relatively new Netflix series, it’s an Italian show about witches.
The show follows a young woman called Ade (played by the beautiful Antonia Fotaras) who finds out she a witch.
That’s when her life is turned upside down.
Ade does everything within her power to ensure she and her brother are not found by the locals and killed.
She ends up being hidden and looked after by her mother’s old friends in the woods.
These old family friends also happen to be witches and they’re home in the forrest seems to be inaccessible to the locals.
The thing I really loved about this show was that the witches weren’t portrayed as the scary ones we often see in horror movies.
These witches are trying to help people and live their lives, much like the women who were accused of being witches in history.
LUNA NERA SEASON 2 HASN’T GOT A RELEASE DATE YET

They are the victims of persecution from the people living in the nearby town.
They do everything they can in their power to capture and kill all of them.
We soon discover that they are lead by a ‘Holy man’ who has a secret connection to the witches.
He is merely using the locals to try and get his hands on the witches’ book of spells.
The show is set in the 1600s when persecution of women under the guise they were witches was commonplace.
It was basically a time when men call women they were afraid of witches and have them burnt alive.
As of yet, there is no official release date for Luna Nera Season 2.
Netflix has not greenlit a second season, which isn’t great news.
That tends to mean that it won’t happen, or that Netflix is waiting to see how well the show performs on their streaming platform.
Only Netflix has access to their streaming numbers and they only reveal then when it’s good news.
Luna Nera Season 1 was directed by three female directors who are pretty well known and revered in Italy.
Francesca Comencini, Susanna Nicchiarelli and Paola Randi shared directing duties on Season 1.
Francesca Manieri, Laura Paolucci and Tiziana Triana were the show’s creators.

Luna Nera was actually based on a series of books by Triana.
Luna Nera is only Netflix’s third Italian-based original drama, following Suburra and Baby.
The first season received mostly positive reviews, yet critics did point at Luna Nera’s poor acting and wooden dialogue.
However, Luna Nera Season 1 was made on a shoestring budget, so it really should be applauded for how well it turned out.
I honestly think given what they had to work with, Luna Nera is a gem of a series and deserves a Season 2.
Even though it was in Italian, I was able to follow Luna Nera Season 1’s story much better than that of The Witcher.
As for Luna Nera’s Season 2’s release date, I’m still hopeful Netflix will greenlight it.
If they do, it’ll most likely be out in January 2021 or maybe later given our current Coronavirus situation.
Netflix has been investing heavily in international content recently.

The streaming giants have made the likes of Dark, Ragnarok, La Casa De Papel (Money Heist in English) and The Rain.
Given Luna Nera’s popularity in and outside of Italy, Netflix could be convinced to make a Season 2.

I think this show is perfect you can understand what they are saying even through there lips don’t match the words but that does not matter it was a easy storyline to follow and for me it kinda ended on a cliff hanger so it makes u want to know more now ada brother is in fact a girl was she the chosen one instead of ada who knows and it is not like other witch programs where they are evil they are nice and just want to be accepted into the world like the rest of the humans but hopefully netflix will give the green light please please please
