Will Lucifer Season 5 See The Devil Go To Heaven To Confront God?

WARNING: Potential SPOILERS for Lucifer Season 5 in this article.

OK, so don’t tell you I didn’t warn you beforehand. I’ve been thinking long and hard about what could happen in Lucifer Season 5, which will be the show’s final season.

Honestly, all I know for certain is that they’ll be an episode which will take place in the 1920s. I also know that Ella Lopez (played by Aimee Garcia) will have a fling in the final season.

Apart from that, I know next to nothing about what will happen in Lucifer Season 5. That said, we now know what Lucifer’s father (a.k.a God) will be making an appearance in the final season.

It was revealed by Entertainment Weekly that 24 actor Dennis Haysbert has been cast as the creator of all things (God), which is very good casting in my honest opinion.

I was kind of hoping that they would bring back Neil Gaiman to play God in the flesh in the final season.

Gaiman, who wrote the comics upon which the series is based, did voice God in the series, however, it looks like the showrunners wanted an actor to play the role, and not an author, which is fair enough.

Anyway, when they announced Haysbert’s casting, Lucifer’s showrunner, Joe Henderson revealed that the character “will appear throughout,” the final season of the supernatural drama.

This had me thinking, will he come back down to Earth to sort out his children’s mess, or will Lucifer and Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) go to him in Heaven?

I think both could happen. Lucifer might end up having a confrontation with his father, possibly in Hell.

I reckon they’ll then meet again on Earth and have a redemptive story arc and I think the show will end up with Lucifer being accepted back into Heaven, only to reveal to his father that he’d rather stay down on Earth with his one true love, Chloe Decker (Lauren German).

This would be an excellent way to round off the show, and it would be a satisfying conclusion to a show that has been in a state of flux for a while now.

Before Netflix swooped in and saved the show, it was looking like Season 3 was going to be Lucifer’s last.

Thankfully that didn’t happen and Netflix got a fourth season made and are allowing the showrunners and writers come up with a proper ending for the show with the upcoming fifth season.

As for Haysbert’s casting new, showrunner Henderson said: “We did like the big crazy list of [possible actors for the part], and he was my top choice.

“We were lucky. It was our first and only offer.”

I really can’t wait to see Haysbert in action and act opposite Tom Ellis. I’m sure they’ll be scenes to remember.
