A lot’s been written about Lucifer Season 5, and it seems as though we members of the LuciferFam are getting rather eager to see the final season of the show we all love so dearly and know when its release date will be.
However, it was revealed recently, by Tom Ellis himself no less, that Lucifer Season 5 will be released in 2 parts on Netflix.
He revealed this during a conversation with Kelly Clarkson on her show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, as she and her mother and sister were being shown around the set.
This then lead to certain people – yep, myself included – that Lucifer Season 5 might not finish until 2021.
Honestly, I still stand by that, because I’m of the belief that Lucifer Season 5 Part 1 will be released towards the end of 2020, and Part 2’s release date will be at the beginning of 2021.

This means that it’s still not certain when Lucifer Season 5’s release date on Netflix will be exactly.
That said, we do know that shooting on the series is currently underway, and we also know – thanks to Aimme Garcia’s hilarious Instagram Stories – that they’re all have a great time on set.
Anyway, back to when Lucifer Season 5 might hit Netflix. I’m thinking that they might release Part 1 in May 2020.
Netflix released Lucifer Season 4 in May, so it would make sense that they would release the first eight episodes of the new season around about the same time.
How many episodes will Season 5 have?

We also know that Lucifer Season 5 will be 16 episodes long in total after Ellis revealed as much to Kelly Clarkson.
Speaking to Kelly Clarkson on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Ellis said: “Season five of Lucifer is going to be split into two halves.
“Netflix is going to drop eight episodes, and then there’s going to be a little break, and then they’re going to drop another eight episodes.”
The term “little break” seems to be key here. How little are we talking exactly?
Will it be a case of a few days, weeks, months, or even years.
I mean, a few years is nothing for an immortal being like Lucifer.
Perhaps Tom was in character when he revealed this bit of information.
Why is Lucifer Season 5 in 2 parts

But, then we have to ask ourselves why Netflix has decided to split Season 5 in two parts
Well, the answer’s actually pretty straight forward. They’re killing two birds with one stone here.
They know that they won’t be able to renew Lucifer for another season (it’s all down to the show’s bizarre international contractual obligations).
So, rather than greenlighting two seasons, they’ve opted to make one season, but make it longer than there normal shows and split it into two.
This means they’ll get to extend the show’s lifespan and get more episodes out of it and create more buzz.
It’s actually a pretty smart marketing technique, which is something Netflix is very good at.

So, this brings me swiftly onto the key question: when will Lucifer Season 5 Part 2’s release date be?
My best guess is that Netflix will release the second part of Season 5 either late 2020 or early 2021.
I would suggest that it’ll be sometime between the months of November 2020 and February 2021.
