Debuting at the number one spot on Netflix last month, Lucifer should consider itself the show that was well and truly saved by fans.
Having been cancelled by Fox, the show was brought back by Netflix – following on from an extensive fan social media campaign.
Lucifer Series 5, part 5A recently aired – with part 5B set to be released around Christmas, or early 2021.
But what do ‘lucifans’ want to see, before the show bows out in season six?
Note: there are spoilers past this point.
1. Trixie and Maze

Can we have a round of applause for this dynamic duo?
Trixie, a small and elfin child, plus Maze – the demon forged in the bowels of Hell, prone to violence and a life of sex, drugs, rock and roll – make for one of the best pairings in the show, imho.
Part 5A only had small glimpses of the partnerships – such as Trixie conning a secret from the devil himself for Maze, but only when her fee of a smallish cash prize has been granted.
(“I taught you well, kid” says Maze, almost admiringly.) \
This looks like a plotline to be set up for 5B – with Maze angry at having not met her mother before she died, as Lucifer withheld her location from Maze.
Fan comments have even suggested that there should be a spin-off show – with puns being made round the word ‘a-MAZE-ing’.
2. Dan and Lucifer bromance

In the first part of 5A, there seemed to almost be a bromance – between the characters of Lucifer and Dan.
When an old flame turns up, tensions rise – as it looks like he’s set to make a play for Chloe, Dan’s ex-wife and the woman the devil so obviously adores.
Dan and Lucifer are sometimes seen talking about “that asshat” – and trying to overcome the obstacles the interloper poses.
That being said, archangel Micheal spoilt this – enough so that Dan accidentally sees Lucifer’s “freaking scary ass face”, in true Devil form.
Enough so that Dan is easily duped into trying to kill Lucifer, by shooting him at Lux.
This would have been the perfect storyline!
Maybe ‘Detective douche’ can overcome his fears, in the end?
3. It’s all about Dr Linda Martin…

A report I read suggested that 5B is going to centre on the character of Dr Linda Martin – and the somewhat startling revelation that she actually has a daughter, who she gave up for adoption just after birth.
The seemingly cool therapist, with jaunty glasses and the voice of an old Hollywood starlet – yes, I may have a ‘woman crush’ on Rachel Harris – Linda has taken somewhat of a backseat in the unfolding drama at times.
Everyone instead comes to her for advice – but she has the potential to be more than just a supporting cast member.
There were also some ‘easter eggs’ planted in 5A…..
4. Justice must be served
WTF, Micheal?! Just WTAF?!
Trending on Twitter after the series finally ‘dropped’ on Netflix, #MichealIsADick was a hashtag that trended around the world – with reference to the new arch-enemy of the series, Lucifer’s twin brother.
Just add a rather creepy American accent, and we have an Angel who just loves to cause chaos – such as by trying to derail the Detective.
But for the love of everything Holy, justice has got to be done.
5. More of Aimee Garcia as Ella Lopez

The character of Ella Lopez is a firm fan favourite – just because the character, played by Dexter’s Aimee Garcia, is just so damn nice. Seriously.
She’s the sort of person you’d want to be your friend – always so positive, cheerful, and very huggable.
Ella Lopez also reflects what the fans are thinking on screen, as the eternal guardian of Deckerstar.

Ella has often had a hard time – such as wanting to be more than just a ‘lab tech’ in earlier seasons, and wanting to get in on the action.
She has become more of a 3D character as time has gone by – such as helping Lucifer in Vegas, disclosing she hears voices (“hello, brother!), and organising a bachelorette party for Chloe.
She even visited a nudist beach, to interrogate a suspect – and *ahem* the rules prevailed.
But will she ever find love?
5A showed Aimee Garcia become entangled with Pete, who eventually turned out to be …. well, a serial killer, watching under the investigation he triggered under the guise of a crime reporter.
And there was some consternation, as there was speculation a main character was going to die.
But what would the show ever do without the “adorable” Miss Lopez?
6. Where has ‘Dad’ been all this time?

A Hell of a lot of time has passed in the life span of a celestial being since season one. (See what I did there?)
But – and it’s a very big but – where has ‘Dad’, aka God, been all this time?
The final scene of 5A shows time stopping completely, frozen – possibly due to Amenadiel freaking out over a cold his son may or may not have – and God intervenes to stop the ultimate fight of the celestials.
Heaven and hell have truly collided.
But why intervene at this point?
And where has “dear old dad” been all this time, anyway?
And why hasn’t he been around at all?
7. Deckerstar, forever and always

5A finally saw Lucifer and Chloe, the Detective, *ahem* finally get together – and they are now officially a couple! Sort of.
The “dickhead twin” enemy of the series has gotten inside Chloe’s head – in order to suggest that Lucifer doesn’t truly love her, as he has not said I Love You. Yet.
Asides from the affection shaming – can’t we show affection in a variety of different ways, to mean the same thing? – Deckerstar has only just been made official.
Can something that is so precious, delicate, and above all fragmented, overcome the various obstacles in the way?
The wait for Lucifer Season 5B has never seemed longer.
Roll on Christmas – this is the one good thing to come out of 2020.
