Lucifer season 5 will be a lot longer than season 4 – six hours longer to be exact. Netflix has revealed that season 5 will be 16 episodes long.
Lucifer season 4 aired on Netflix. The story of how it ended up on the popular streaming service is an interesting one.
To cut a long story short, Fox opted to cancel the show after three seasons, and fans went berzerk. They then took to social media and started the hashtag, SaveLucifer.
That was when Netflix saw an opportunity and swept in to save the show. It was one of those moments when fan pressure really meant something and the hashtag SaveLucifer was the number one trending topic on Twitter for quite some time.
5 Things We Want To See Happen In Lucifer Season 5
Lucifer season 4 then aired on Netflix and it proved to be one of the best seasons of the show so far. However, fans did notice that it was a lot shorter than the previous seasons.
Season 4 was only ten episodes long, which is pretty standard for a Netflix show, yet not for a show on Fox. Season 3, for instance, was 26 episodes long, which is stupidly long.
It’s now been revealed via See What’s Next on Twitter, that season 5 of Lucifer will be 16 episodes long, making it a full six hours longer than season 4, which should make fans happy.

However, fans aren’t happy about season 5 being the definitive last season of the show ever. Netflix announced a while back that the show will come to an end after the upcoming season.
However, this seemed to please the show’s cast, crew and showrunners, who claimed that the final season will allow them to tell the story they always wanted to tell.
That may be the case, but a world without Lucifer is a sad one, and even though the final season will be slightly longer, that won’t stop it from being over.
The binge-watching aspect of Netflix will also mean that once the show drops on the streaming service, that will basically be it.
