Owen Wilson, who plays Mobius in Marvel’s Loki series on Disney Plus, reveals the Season 2 release date. Not long ago, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania teased Loki at its end credit scene.
It featured Wilson with Tom Hiddleston as Loki and also featured Jonathan Majors as Victor Timely (a Kang variant). This gave us excitement that it won’t be long to see the upcoming series. Season 1 ended back in July 2021, and it also teased us that the show would be returning.
The series was set to be released on Disney Plus in mid-2023. Unfortunately, just a little over a week ago, we reported that season 2’s release had been delayed into possibly Winter 2023 instead of the middle of the year. There was no reason reported for the delay; it is presumed that the delay could be the result of Disney’s quality control.

ET had recently interviewed Owen Wilson while promoting his latest film, Paint. He was asked about the teaser at the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Wilson played Mobius M. Mobius in the Loki series, has said:
I guess they have kind of a little shot of Tom Hiddleston and I and Jonathan Majors from Loki season two. And I think that’s coming out end of the summer or September.
This tells us that the show could still release around summer. Or that was the intended release. Note the production has already finished filming last October of 2022. It’s possible that the last time he heard about the release date was still set for summer 2023. The report of the delay was just weeks ago.
We doubt that his participation in other projects would have affected the release. His new film, Paint, was filmed back in 2021. And Disney’s new Haunted Mansion film ended principal photography back in Feb 2022.
Owen Wilson is reported to be cast in the MCU’s Deadpool 3, but filming for that will start soon. It’s scheduled to begin filming this spring. And we don’t know how big a role he will have in the upcoming film.
Even though we are excited to learn that the release could still happen within the summer schedule, we have to understand that Disney’s quality control has put several projects behind their intended schedule.

Disney CEO Bob Iger has made it known that Marvel’s volume of projects produced each year has affected their quality. This has forced the re-evaluation of Disney’s franchises which also includes Star Wars, which hasn’t seen any new films since 2018 and has focused on TV shows instead.
Ironheart, Agatha: Coven of Chaos, and Echo were all expected to be released within the year, but right now, they are all delayed. Only Secret Invasion and Loki are assured to be released in 2023.
We have to add the fact that the recent arrest of Jonathan Majors has given some fans some concern. Majors’ who plays Kang in the Loki series, has a big role to play in the MCU. His arrest has already affected the release of the US Army’s TV spot which featured him. Will it also affect Loki and his appearance in the MCU in general? Will it delay Loki and other MCU projects?
