Lizzy Caplan has landed the role of Bella Donna Boudreaux in the Gambit movie, a role which Lea Seydoux was previously attached to play.
20th Century Fox’s Gambit movie has been in development for what seems like decades now. It’s already gone through multiple directors, Doug Liman and Rupert Wyatt were both attached to direct the movie at different stages in this movie’s development. Yet, one thing about this movie has remained constant: Channing Tatum would be playing the New Orleans-born superhero, Gambit.
According to Variety, the actor will now be joined by Master of Sex and Mean Girls’ Lizzy Caplan who will be playing Gambit’s, a.k.a. Remi LeBeau, love interest, Bella Donna Boudreaux. She’s an interesting character being the daughter of the leader of the New Orleans Assassins’ Guild and there’s a lot more to her than meets the eye. Lea Seydoux, who you might have seen in Blue Is The Warmest Colour and/or Spectre, was originally attached to play the role but was forced to leave the project due to its constant on-and-off-again nature.
Pirates of the Caribbean’s Gore Verbinski is the latest (and hopefully last) director to be attached to the Gambit movie which is slated for a Valentine’s Day 2019 release. With both Tatum and Caplan starring it certainly sounds like the ideal date movie. The last comic book movie to be released on that very special of days was 2016’s Deadpool and that made a ton of cash. Hopefully, Fox can replicate this success with the Gambit movie.
