Nintendo held a press conference for their upcoming console, the Nintendo Switch, in which we saw a new trailer for The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild and we also learnt that it will be a launch title for the Switch!
I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am for The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild. It feels like I’ve been waiting for this game for ever now. It started off as the Zelda game for the Wii U, but Nintendo has decided to release it simultaneously on both their current console, and their upcoming hybrid gaming platform, the Nintendo Switch.
They did a similar thing with Twilight Princess back then they launched the Wii. It came out on both the Game Cube and the Wii. Personally, as the proud owner of a Wii U, I’m a bit sad that Breath of the Wild didn’t come out on the platform sooner, but I can completely understand Nintendo’s reasoning behind the decision. They want to make sure they have a console seller when the Switch comes out, and Breath of the Wild will certainly help them move some units. Check out the latest trailer below.
Thanks to Nintendo’s conference, we know that the Switch will launch globally on March 3rd, 2017 and will cost $299.99 in the US. That means that it’ll come in at around £279.99 in the UK, which seems more than fair for a brand new console, especially one like the Switch which you can play both on your TV and on the go. It really sounds like it’s all too good to be true, but it’s real folks.
They also announced a new Mario game, Super Mario Odyssey, which looks very promising. As for Breath of the Wild, it looks every inch the Zelda game I wanted it to be: vast, gorgeous, full of character, innovation, mystery and intrigue… It obviously shares the same DNA as previous Zelda games, but Nintendo has taken inspiration from other, more recent video games, such as Skyrim, and has created something truly remarkable. I also love the addition of voice acting, it gives the game that extra edge which no Zelda game ever had.
The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild will be released on March 3rd, 2017. Are you going to pre-ordering this one?
