Netflix dropped a new French show called La Révolution and it’s getting people talking. Could it be the best show to watch this Halloween?
It seems as though there’s a new show landing on Netflix every few seconds these days.
It can get a bit overwhelming because often you know nothing about these shows before they’re released.
It’s even more annoying when you end up watching them and they often turn out to be a bit rubbish.
However, sometimes there’s a real gem hidden amongst the fake diamonds.
That’s was what watching the new French show, La Révolution was like for me.
From the moment it began I just couldn’t take my eyes off it, and that’s why I’ve really been championing it on Small Screen.
La Révolution is Netflix’s new show that you just have to watch

Just in case you have no idea what I’m talking about, here’s the official synopsis of the show:
1787, France. While investigating a series of mysterious murders, Joseph Guillotin – the future inventor of the world-famous ‘Guillotine’ – uncovers an unknown virus: the Blue Blood. The disease, quickly spreads amongst the French aristocracy, driving them to murder ordinary people and soon leads to a rebellion… What if the French Revolution didn’t happen the way we were told?
It’s a really interesting premise on which to make a show like this.
The French Revolution of 1789 is one of the most well-known historical events.
It’s huge and vital part of French history and the French are the way they are today mainly because of this event.
It’s no surprise then, that this show hasn’t been unanimously loved over in France.
I live here, so I should know.
People don’t like the fact that Netflix’s show kind of makes light of the French Revolution.
It’s a show in which a mysterious virus called Blue Blood makes the Aristocracy become incredibly strong and want to kill poor people.
They’re basically super soldier zombies and the members of the Revolution decide to fight fire with fire by injecting themselves with the virus.
La Révolution is perfect viewing for this Halloween

Honestly, as far as I’m concerned, there’s everything I want from a horror/action show in La Révolution.
There’s blood, guts, gore, horror, action and also there’s a pretty interesting romance at the heart of it.
I also found bits of the show to be genuinely terrifying.
I would say that La Révolution has better jump scares in it than The Haunting Of Bly Manor, which is oddly void of any real jump scares.
There’s also the fact that this show has some French actors in it who are pretty good at their craft.
It also helps that many of them are not bad to look at.
The series stars Amir El Kacem, Marilou Aussilloux, Doudou Masta, Lionel Erdogan, Julien Frison, Coline Béal and Gaia Weiss.
Weiss in the most famous name of the bunch having previously appeared in the hit show Vikings.
She plays Marrianne in La Révolution and she’s just brilliant here.
I also think that Aussilloux, Masta, Erdogan and El Kacem are also perfectly cast and I hope to see them all in more stuff after this.
Will there be a Season 2 on Netflix?

Finally, I think the show is pretty darn timely.
It’s literally a show about a virus that causes chaos and kills a lot of people.
Does that remind you of anything that’s going on today?
Then there’s the question of whether there’ll be a La Révolution Season 2 on Netflix?
Well, honestly maybe not.
The show has proven to be rather popular and I would love to see a Season 2.
However, Netflix doesn’t tend to greenlight second seasons of shows unless they’re 100% certain it’ll do well.
La Révolution has done well this year, however, there are a whole load of extenuating circumstances that have helped its success.
One of them is COVID-19. The other is the fact that it’s coming out at Halloween. The third is that there’s not much else on at the moment.
That said, I truly hope they do go ahead with a second season.
We’re just going to have to wait and see what Netflix decides to do.
