Kleo Season 2 is something that I’m pretty sure fans of the new Netflix series are desperate to know more about. Will there be a second season, and if so, when could it be released on the streaming platform? These are two questions that I am going to try and answer for you in this article. However, before I get into all of that, I did want to make it very clear that not all of the answers are out there at the moment.
That said, there has been some movement regarding the second season of this new German action-thriller series. That’s brilliant news! We will also be going over some other stuff such as who could be returning for the second season and what might happen in it. We’re also going to go over whether the trailer for Kleo Season 2 has been released or not.
Is Kleo Season 2 happening on Netflix?

So, before we get into all of that, let’s go over what this awesome new series is all about. Here’s the show’s plot synopsis (via Netflix):
1987: Shortly after liquidating a businessman in West Berlin on behalf of a secret Stasi commando, top East German spy Kleo is arrested, denounced by the Stasi and even betrayed by her own grandfather. After two years in prison, the Berlin Wall suddenly falls and Kleo is released. But she soon realizes that the conspiracy against her is much more complicated than she thought, and that an ominous red suitcase is the key to it all.
Kleo thus embarks on a revenge spree that leads her through the anarchic Berlin, improvised electro clubs and Mallorcan fincas all the way to Chile’s Atacama Desert – with the West Berlin policeman Sven constantly on her tail, chasing the case of a lifetime.
I’m not going to beat about the bush here – Kleo is my favourite series of 2022 so far. It reminds me a lot of the first season of Killing Eve, and I loved that show. The show’s subsequent seasons were OK, but Killing Eve’s first season was something really special. I actually think that Kleo’s first season might be even better.
These two shows make for an interesting comparison. They are both about female assassins who are incredible at what they do and have been brainwashed into believing that they are killing for a just and noble cause. However, they end up finding out that the people they were working for were just using them, and that everything they believed in was a lie.
So, will Kleo get a second season? Well, good news. Yes. It’s been revealed by the streamer (via a press release) that the show’s second season is already in the works! This is wonderful, as this series is one of the best Netflix shows I’ve seen in a long time. Netflix revealed:
Now the second season following former Stasi assassin Kleo Straub on her mission for revenge is officially confirmed. Of course, with Jella Haase in the lead role and Dimitrij Schaad starring again as her antagonist/partner-in-crime Sven Petzold. The HaRiBo team (Para – We are King, 4 Blocks) – Hanno Hackfort, Richard Kropf and Bob Konrad – will be at the helm as showrunners, while Michael Souvignier, Till Derenbach and Jörg Engels from Zeitsprung Pictures will be responsible for production. Filming is scheduled to begin in 2023.

When could Season 2 be released on Netflix?

So, if a second season is in the works, when could it be released on Netflix? That’s a tough question because Netflix hasn’t officially revealed a release date for the show’s second season. However, we can come up with what will prove to be a pretty accurate estimation as to when the show should be released on the streaming platform based on the information that Netflix gave in their press release in which they announced that the series had been renewed for another season.
According to Netflix’s statement, the second season will start shooting in 2023. We’ve been informed that filming should start early in 2023. We were informed that they should start rolling the cameras on the second season in towards the beginning of March. However, they could start filming even earlier.
This information suggests that the second season should be released sometime in 2024. Given that these shows tend to take about 15 months from start to finish, I would expect the show’s second season to be released on Netflix in March 2024. However, it could end up being released before that date if Netflix really wants to release the second season as soon as possible.
What could happen in Kleo Season 2?

As far as what could happen in the show’s second season, well, given the first season’s rather incredible ending, it looks like Kleo will still be trying to kill a bunch of people. I think that she and Sven will still be working together even though she ended up shooting at him in the first season’s finale. I also think that a lot of the show’s second season will take place in the United States and that the suitcase will still play a part in the show’s story.
Who will be returning for season 2?

As for which actors will be returning for the show’s second season, we already know that the likes of Jella Haase and Dimitrij Schaad will be back. However, one actor who won’t be returning will be Vladimir Burlakov, who played Andi in the first season, as he was killed by Ramona.
Speaking on Ramona, Marta Sroka should be returning for the show’s second season. It also seems as though Yun Huang will be returning as Min Sun. Julius Feldmeier should also return as Thilo (after his journey into space to see his princess). The show’s finale also revealed that Uwe Mittig is still alive (I know, cray!), so it would seem that Vincent Redetzki will also be back for Season 2.
Apart from those names, it’s not so clear with other actors will be returning for the second season. We’re just going to have to wait and see who ends up making a return, and I think there will be a number of new faces in the second season.
