Kit Harington’s Future As Black Knight In The MCU Is Very Uncertain

Kit Harington, known worldwide as Jon Snow, made quite the splash when he entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Dane Whitman in Eternals. But despite the fanfare, his future as the Black Knight now seems to hang in the balance. In a recent interview with Variety, Harington candidly admitted that his role in Eternals wasn’t exactly what he’d hoped for. He confessed that he didn’t find the character particularly different or interesting, but, as he put it, “If Marvel calls, you gotta do it.” And who can blame him? After all, it’s Marvel!

The uncertainty around Harington’s future in the MCU was further fuelled by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. Feige recently stated that there are no immediate plans for an Eternals sequel, leaving fans wondering what will happen to Whitman. Will we see him wield the Ebony Blade again? Perhaps in Blade, which is set to release in 2025? The film’s production, however, has hit several bumps along the way, casting even more doubt on Harington’s return. The outlook, frankly, is murky at best.

One of the biggest questions surrounding Kit Harington’s future as Black Knight is whether Marvel will continue down the path they’ve started or take a new direction entirely. The post-credits scene in Eternals hinted at big things to come, with Mahershala Ali’s Blade teasing Whitman’s potential transformation into the Black Knight. It was an exciting moment, to say the least, one that had fans buzzing with anticipation. But with no solid plans for an Eternals sequel, that excitement has been replaced with uncertainty.

So, where does that leave Harington? There’s talk of a possible Black Knight special presentation or even a Disney Plus series. Feige has confirmed that such projects are in development, but details are scarce. Alternatively, Harington’s Whitman could make cameo appearances in upcoming MCU films like Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars. But without concrete information, it’s all speculation at this point.

As someone who has followed Kit Harington’s career from Game of Thrones to Eternals, I must admit I’m a bit concerned. Harington is a talented actor, and the Black Knight has the potential to be a fascinating character in the MCU. But Marvel seems to be dragging its feet on what to do next, and that’s worrisome. The MCU is a vast universe with endless possibilities, but without a clear direction, it’s easy for characters like Whitman to get lost in the shuffle.

For now, all we can do is wait and see. Will Kit Harington’s Black Knight rise to prominence in the MCU, or will he fade into the background? I, for one, hope Marvel gives this character the attention he deserves. Harington has proven he can carry complex roles, and with the right storyline, the Black Knight could become a key player in the MCU’s future.
