Kevin Feige Wants Mike Colter Back As Luke Cage

It’s been revealed to us by sources reportedly close to Marvel Studios that Kevin Feige is keen on bringing Mike Colter back as Luke Cage in the MCU. This comes after it’s been rumoured that the Moon Knight series might feature Luke Cage in some form.

Kevin Feige and his team at Marvel Studios are hard at work planning out the future phases of the MCU, and it looks like many of the actors from the Marvel Netflix shows will be coming back in the MCU as rebooted versions of their characters.

We’ve heard that Charlie Cox, Jon Bernthal and Krysten Ritter will all be returning to play the same characters they played in the Netflix shows. However, it sounds like they will not be the same versions they played in those Netflix series, which is fine by me to be honest.

A source who’s reportedly close to Marvel Studios has since informed me that Kevin Feige is very keen on bringing Mike Colter back to the MCU as Luke Cage. Here’s what they told me:

I can’t say exactly how it’s going to happen, but Luke Cage is going to make an MCU appearance and Feige wants Colter to come back to play him.

Now, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the interview that Mike Colter did with ComingSoon.net a few months back in which he claimed that he hadn’t been contacted by Marvel Studios “whatsoever” for a possible return as Luke Cage in the MCU. Here’s what the actor said in that interview:

I got to say, I rarely think about it in the sense of what could be or will be, I know fans are eager to see something with the character…I know I established him and it was an honor to do that, but I don’t know what the future holds, I’m just in my mode of doing Evil right now and a few films on hiatus. If something happens, I’d love to have a conversation with them, but for now I’m not holding my breath, I’m happy either way, it was a good run.

I did mention this interview to the source who contacted me with the information that Feige was interested in bringing Colter back as Luke Cage, and here’s what they had to say about that:

It’s true that Colter hadn’t been contacted for the role back in December. However, as they start work on the Moon Knight series, it’s become pretty obvious that Luke Cage needs to be involved in the series, and Feige is a fan of Colter’s performance in the Marvel Netflix shows.

What I will say is that I would love to see Mike Colter back as Luke Cage because I do think he was perfect in the role. Say what you will about those Netflix Marvel shows, you have to agree that they were very well cast.

Colter is represented by ICM Partners. We have reached out to Marvel Studios and Disney for comment. They declined.
