The New Mutants has been delayed and delayed again and now we’ve learned that Jon Hamm’s Mr. Sininster cameo won’t be happening.
Josh Boone’s The New Mutants has been going through a bit of a tough time recently. It was originally supposed to be coming out in April, but then the film was delayed to February 2019 and then August 2019. That’s a pretty big delay. 20th Century Fox also delayed their other X-Men film, X-Men: Dark Pheonix. I’m not quite sure what’s going on at Fox, however, there are now reports suggesting that they delayed The New Mutants to make it scarier after films like It and Get Out’s success. I really hope this is the case and that they let Boone fulfil his initial vision for the movie.
It’s been reported that 50% of Josh Boone’s New Mutants film will be reshot to make it scarier and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. However, with this slightly good news comes some very bad new. According to The Tracking Board Jon Hamm was going to be making a cameo as Mr. Sinister, however, that’s not happening anymore. According to the outlet, “Jon Hamm was originally going to appear as Mr. Sinister in a tag at the end of New Mutants, and Boone filmed material that led up to that reveal, only for Fox to change their minds after shooting had been completed.”
That said, the outlet goes on to report that Antonio Banderas will be making an appearance as a rather big villain in the movie but who that villain might be in not known yet. I’m a huge fan of Banderas and he’s proved time and time again what an interesting and accomplished actor he is. Just check out his incredible performance in The Skin I Live In which is truly terrifying.
The New Mutants should be coming to UK cinemas on August 2nd, 2019, but who knows, that date may change once again. The film stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton, Henry Zaga, Blu Hunt, and Alice Braga.
