There are rumours making the rounds suggesting that Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher will get to fight Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the MCU.
Now, this rumour comes from Giant Freakin Robot, and before I continue, I have to say that I have not been able to validate their claims.
That said, GFR has been right about things in the past, and we were able to confirm that Bernthal has been in discussions with Marvel Studios.
He and Marvel have been talking about having Bernthal reprise the role of The Punisher in the MCU.
It makes sense given he’s the perfect actor for the job and showed that in the Netflix shows.
Now, does this mean that they’d like Bernthal’s The Punisher to go up against Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in the MCU?
Honestly, at this point, I’m not so sure.
Yes, The Punisher has gone up again Spider-Man in the comics and the animated series.

However, Bernthal’s Punisher is very different in tone to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.
He’s much more violent and I just don’t know whether having him turn up in a Spider-Man movie would really work.
It would mean that you’d have to tone down his take on The Punisher, and I’m not certain that audiences would like that.
I also think it would be difficult for Spider-Man fans and MCU fans to suddenly see Tom Holland’s Spidey go up against someone like Bernthal’s Punisher.
