Jon Bernthal might be returning to the MCU as The Punisher. However, before we get into this news, we do have to warn you to take this bit of information with a big pinch of salt.
So, some outlets have been claiming that Jon Bernthal’s return as The Punisher in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has been confirmed by a recent Instagram post. There have been so many rumours over the past few years/months suggesting that Bernthal will be back as Frank Castle in the MCU. We were actually informed that he would be returning to the role in the MCU in his own Disney Plus series.
Well, it seems as though that news may have inadvertently been confirmed thanks to a recent Instagram post from Mr. Kasey O’Keefe. He posted a picture of himself with the actor and here’s what he had to say in the post’s caption:

However, if you look into this user’s Instagram account, he does tend to post images of himself with celebrities and actors and saying things such as ‘I’m looking forward to working with you”. He has an IMDb page, but hasn’t been in any movies or TV shows of any note. So, this is why I Warner you to take this ‘news’ with a slight pinch of salt.
However, now onto the good news. We have been informed by our own sources that Bernthal is set to reprise his role as The Punisher in the MCU. Moreover, we were informed that this is going to happen sooner rather than later. We were told to expect Bernthal to be re-introduced as The Punisher in the upcoming Daredevil series which is called Daredevil: Born Again.

So, yes. It does seem as though we’re going to get to see Jon Bernthal return as Frank Castle sooner rather than later. The actor has said on multiple occasions that he would love to return to the role. However, he has also stated that he doesn’t want to play a ‘watered-down’ version of the character in the MCU. I think that’s fair enough, and it does seem as though Marvel Studios is starting to be more open when it comes to violence in their upcoming projects.
We already know that Deadpool 3 is going to be R-rated, and it’s looking like the Blade movie is going to be going that way also. Werewolf By Night, the recent TV special on Disney Plus, was excellent and a lot more violent than previous MCU properties. We’re just going to have to wait and see what happens. However, it does seem as though Bernthal is back and it’s only a matter of time before he’s officially confirmed as returning by Marvel Studios.
