It’s been revealed to us by sources claiming to be close to Marvel Studios that Jon Bernthal is now “in talks” to return as The Punisher in the MCU. This is something that fans have been clamouring for for what seems like years now, and it sounds like Marvel has been listening to the fans.
Jon Bernthal himself has been very open about wanting to return to the role that he played in the Marvel Studios Netflix series. It seems like that might be a possibility now, which is great news!
Here’s what the first source to reveal this information to us here at Small Screen had to say about Jon Bernthal being in talks to return as The Punisher in the MCU:
Jon Bernthal and Marvel Studios are in talks which could result in the actor coming back to play The Punisher in the MCU.
I then pressed the source for more information on whether these talks are for a movie or a TV show, and they had this to add:
As it stands, this would be for an appearance in one of the upcoming Disney Plus shows, but that could evolve into an appearance in the movies also.
The Punisher could be returning to the MCU

Full disclosure, I sat on this news for a while because this source is another one I hadn’t had previous dealings with, and I didn’t want to run this article based on one source. So, I asked people who’ve given me good information regarding upcoming Marvel projects, and a few of them corroborated the first source’s information. One source said:
Yes, I can confirm that Jon Bernthal is talking to Marvel Studios regarding a return as Frank Castle to the MCU.
A third source also confirmed that Jon Bernthal is in talks with Marvel Studios and also added that the actor is very keen to appear in as many properties as possible as the character.
Marvel and Bernthal are talking. These talks have been going on for a while, and Bernthal is very keen to play The Punisher in as many things as possible – TV shows and movies.
Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher could debut in the MCU series, She-Hulk

This was all the convincing I needed to go ahead and write the article. As far as my sources are concerned, Jon Bernthal and Marvel Studios are talking, and that’s a very good thing. This comes after it was revealed that Marvel Studios are working on a whole load of new TV shows and movies.
I’m pretty sure that The Punisher could be reintroduced in a number of those upcoming shows. However, the one I’m looking at as the most likely to feature a Frank Castle cameo is She-Hulk. I could easily see her and maybe even Matt Murdock represent Frank Castle in court. That would be super thrilling and would also help expand both Bernthal and Charlie Cox’s roles in the MCU.
Will Jon Bernthal and Charlie Cox be reunited in the MCU?

I’ve reached out to Marvel Studios and Disney for comment on this story. So far, they’ve declined to comment. Jon Bernthal is represented by WME (William Morris Endeavor (WME) Entertainment).
