Todd Phillips’ Joker movie has already been a huge success at the box office, and it now looks like Warner Bros Pictures is looking to get some Oscars out of it, which is only to be expected.
Joker has made over $800 million at the box office, making it the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, overtaking Deadpool in the process.
However, it also did rather well with the critics. It got five-star reviews from the likes of Empire Magazine, Total Film, IGN, Time Out, and then a whole host of four-star reviews.
Here at Small Screen, we gave it nine out of ten, which roughly translates to four and a half stars. You can have a look at our Joker review right here to find out what we thought of the movie in the more details.
So, all this hype and good buzz has lead to Warner Bros. Pictures having submitted the film in a whole host of different categories at the Oscars.
The studios has submitted Joaquin Phoenix for a Best Actor nomination. They’ve also submitted his co-stars Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, and Frances Conroy for Best Supporting Actor/Actress nominations, and the entire cast for Best Ensemble.

And of course, Warner Bros. Pictures is looking for a Best Picture nomination, which is to be expected.
Yet, they’ve also submitted the movie for a Best Adapted Screenplay nomination, and a Best Director nod for Todd Phillips.
Other categories include Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Film Editing, and Best Visual Effects, Best Sound Editing, and Best Sound Mixing.
So, Joker is basically going to be nominated for all the key categories and I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets nominated if quite a few of them.
The only Oscar I can see it winning, however, is the Best Actor award for Joaquin Phoenix’s performance, which is Oscar-winning material.
