Joker Will Be Available For Streaming On HBO Max in May 2020

Todd Phillips’ Joker movie has been making waves this year, some good, some bad. It’s become the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, overtaking Deadpool in the process. It was also pretty positively reviewed by critics.

However, the film has suffered a bit of a backlash due to its portrayal of violence and the way it tackles mental illness, which some people have taken offence to.

That said, it’s done very well, extraordinarily well at the box office, and a vast majority of moviegoers seemed to have enjoyed the film.

There’s also talk of Oscars for its lead, Joaquin Phoenix, which I think would be very much warranted.

It’s been reported now that fans will be able to stream Joker via HBO Max in May 2020, which is brilliant news.

The film’s made over $853 million at the box office so far (via Box Office Mojo) and it’s still going. Some people reckon it could get to $1 billion.

This huge success is made even more astonishing by the fact that the movie wasn’t released in China, which means it hasn’t been released in one of the world’s biggest markets.

However, Ryan Reynolds didn’t seem too pleased with Joker’s box office takings and didn’t take kindly to the film overtaking Deadpool to become the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time.

Reynolds posted an image on Twitter of Joker’s poster, yet the actor has changed some of the wording.

The poster now reads: “You mother f*cker”, and below it is a heart emoji and the names: “Deadpool, Neo, Pennywise, Jesus, Hugh Jackman, The Wolfpack, Mr. Grey, Ted.”

These, of course, are the names of all the protagonists in the other highest-grossing R-rated movies.

So, you have DeadpoolThe Matrix ReloadedThe Passion of the ChristItThe Hangover and The Hangover Part 2 (both Todd Phillips movies), and Logan.

It’s the perfect response to having beeing taken off the number one spot of highest-grossing R-rated movies of all time.
