It’s been revealed that Todd Phillips’ Joker movie has just bagged itself four nominations at 2020’s Golden Globes awards, which is a pretty big deal for the movie and everyone involved in it.
Todd Phillips directed this new take on the DC Comics character, Joker and he also wrote the script alongside Scott Silver.
Joker went on to make a load of money at the box office (over $1 billion) and became the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time.
It even overtook Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice’s box office takings, which I’m pretty sure no one working at Warner Bros. Pictures would have ever had predicted.
It’s now been revealed that Joker has been nominated for four Golden Globes which include Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama (Joaquin Phoenix), Best Director (Todd Phillips), and Best Original Score (Hildur Guðnadóttir).
Those are four pretty big categories to be up for, and at the moment it’s looking like Joaquin Phoenix is the frontrunner to win Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama.

He’s up against Christian Bale for Le Mans 66, Antonio Banderas for Pain and Glory, Adam Driver for Marriage Story and Jonathan Pryce for The Two Popes.
I’ve seen most of these performances, apart from Driver and Pryce, and I must say that the level of acting this year has been spectacular.
Bale was brilliant in Le Mans 66, Banderas was wonderfully subdued and just perfect in Pain and Glory and then Joaquin Phoenix was sublime in Joker.
I’ve only heard good things about Driver and Pryce’s performances in their respective movies.
I have heard a lot of people saying that it’s going to be between Driver and Phoenix, but I’d be happy for any of them if they won.
