Todd Phillips’ Joker movie has been pretty impressive. It’s already made over $1 billion at the box office, overtaking The Dark Knight in the process, and it’s looking like it’ll sweep up at the Oscars in 2020.
There’s been a lot of talk of a sequel, a Joker 2 if you will, to the movie, and that’s to be expected given how well the film has done both critically and at the box office.
The film started off the year by winning the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, which never happens for a comic book movie.
It’s ended the year with over $1 billion in the bank and could start 2020 with more awards.
Anyway, there’s been a lot of chatter about a potential Joker 2, and Joaquin Phoenix has been umming and ahhing about it. One minute he’s all for it, the next he doesn’t want to do a sequel.
But, it seems as though Warner Bros. Pictures might have been able to convince him and Todd Phillips, as it’s being reported by The Hollywood Reporter that they’ve just greenlit a Joker 2.
Joker 2 is a go!

The Hollywood Reporter’s article claims that both Joaquin Phoenix and Todd Phillips will return for this Joker sequel.
I’m going to be honest, this news really doesn’t surprise me at all. The movie’s been a huge hit, and huge hits tend to get sequels.
However, I do hope they go about this the right way. They can’t just do a sequel for the sake of doing a sequel.
They need to come up with the perfect story first and then start work on developing the movie.
Hopefully, Phillips and his writing partner, Scott Silver already have a good idea in mind for what they’re going to do next with Arthur Fleck’s character in this Joker sequel.
