Joker Has Passed $1 Billion At The Box Office And Has Overtaken The Dark Knight

Todd Phillips’ Joker movie has done pretty well at the box office, very well in fact.

The movie’s now made over $1 billion at the worldwide box office, which is frankly put, insane.

It’s a ludicrous sum of money for a film that cost just over $55 million to make (depending on which sources you look at).

It becomes even more outstanding when you learn that Warner Bros. Pictures’ executives – the people who greenlight these movies and set the budgets – didn’t want the film to be made in the first place.

They gave Todd Phillips what they believed to be too small a budget to make the movie, thinking that he would turn around and say that it would be impossible for him to make the movie.

Yet, he did the opposite. He made the movie and it’s now made according to Box Office Mojo a whopping $1,018,729,655, and that’s without the movie having been released in China.

It’s also an R-rated movie which makes the whole thing even more incredible.

It’s pretty hard to believe how successful this movie has been. It just seems to have captured the people’s imagination and they’ve gone to the cinema for repeat viewings.

It was also revealed that Joker has now made more money at the box office than Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, which just boggles the mind.

The Dark Knight made a lifetime gross of $1,004,934,033, which was pretty big news at the time.

However, it’s now behind Joker in the all-time box office records, which currently sits at the 42nd highest-grossing film of all time.

Really, it has to be said, hats off to Todd Phillips, his crew, the film’s cast, his writing partner, Scott Silver and Joaquin Phoenix for the work they did on this movie.
