John Wick Franchise Is Going To Take A Break After Chapter 4

It’s been revealed that the John Wick franchise is going to be taking a little bit of a break after John Wick: Chapter 4 was released in cinemas. This was revealed by the movie’s director, Chad Stahelski; however, there have also been reports that Lionsgate is very much interested in getting moving on a fifth John Wick film.

The latest John Wick movie was released in cinemas, and it’s ended up being the most successful movie of the franchise so far. It’s been doing incredibly well at the box office in the United States and internationally. The film has also been really well received by critics and fans of the franchise.

I posted Small Screen’s review of John Wick: Chapter 4 last week, and to cut a rather long review short, I thought the movie was incredible. I couldn’t really come up with any negatives and I thought the movie had some of the most inventive and exciting action set pieces I’ve ever seen on the big screen.

Director Chad Stahelski addressed whether they would be making a fifth John Wick movie in a new interview and revealed that he and star Keanu Reeves are “done for the moment.”

“We’re going to give John Wick a rest,” Stahelski told The Hollywood Reporter.

He added that he’s sure John Wick studio Lionsgate “has a plan” for the future of John Wick, but he either doesn’t know what it is or doesn’t want to talk about it just yet. If John Wick: Chapter 4 does big numbers (which is it doing), Stahelski said he would sit down with Reeves, drink booze, and map out the next John Wick movie. Here’s what he had to say on the matter:

Keanu and I will take the long trip to Tokyo, we’ll sit in the Imperial Hotel Scotch Bar and go, ‘What do you think?’ We’ll have a couple 20-year-old whiskies and write some ideas on napkins. If those ideas stick, maybe we’ll make a movie.

Beyond the John Wick series, Stahelski has a number of other projects in the works, including the Ghost of Tsushima movie and a new Rainbow Six film.

Even though Chad had said that the John Wick franchise is going to take a bit of a break after Chapter 4, that’s not totally true. It’s been revealed that there are a bunch of John Wick spinoff projects in the works. They are working on a mini-series called The Continental which is going to be released on Peacock later this year.

They are also making a John Wick spinoff movie called Ballerina, which will star Ana de Armas. The movie is in the works right now, and it’s been revealed that Reeves is going to be cameoing in the movie. The film is set to be released in theatres in 2024.

There have also been plans to make a AA John Wick video game, which sounds brilliant. I think that the John Wick universe is going to keep on expanding and I can’t wait to see what’s to come.
