John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum has proven to be a hit at the box office, with fans and critics, so much so that Lionsgate has greenlit John Wick: Chapter 3.
It looks like people just love to watch Keanu Reeves kick some serious butt on the big screen.
Audiences fell in love with Reeves as the ‘retired’ assassin who’s forced to come out of his retirement to kill some dudes who murdered his cute dog, which was a gift from his late wife.
To cut a long story short: you don’t mess with John Wick’s dog. You don’t mess with John Wick in any way shape or form.
Yet, these things ended up spiralling out of control and after the events of John Wick: Chapter 2, the assassin now has a $14 million bounty on his head and all the world’s best killers are now after him.
Well, Parabellum proved to be a smash hit in its opening weekend making over $93 million worldwide and $56 million of that was made in the US.
Keanu Reeves as John Wick
It’s proven to be so successful that Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment don’t want this particular gravy train to stop and they’ve given the go-ahead of a John Wick: Chapter 4.
Keanu Reeves has made no secret of the fact that he’d be open to another one, and he actually said that he would carry on doing these films until his legs wouldn’t let him anymore.
This means that there could be another couple of John Wick movies to come after this one, and so it should be.
The world needs some genuinely good action flicks, and the John Wick movies are exactly that.
Director, Chad Stahelski, also said that he’d love to keep on making these movies as long as audiences wanted to see them. However, he did mention that Chapter 4 might prove to be harder than John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum because it’ll have to be even bigger.
How do you go even bigger than Chapter 3? Beat me. That said, if there’s anyone who could pull it off it’s Reeves and Stahelski.
Chapter 3 also became the first film to topple Avengers: Endgame at the worldwide box office, which is pretty impressive.
John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum is now in theatres while John Wick: Chapter 4 is scheduled for release on May 21, 2021.
