It’s being reported that John Wesley Shipp is going to return for the final season of The Flash (Season 9), which makes a lot of sense to me. This news comes to us via Giant Freakin Robot.
John Wesley Shipp was actually the first person to play The Flash on TV. He played the iconic DC Comics superhero in the CBS series, The Flash, which lasted only a year, from 1990 to 1991.
However, he was then cast as Barry Allen’s father in The CW series, The Flash in 2014. Since then, he’s gone on to play many different roles on the show.
John Wesley Shipp also played Jay Garrick, the Flash of Earth-3, who was first introduced as a mysterious man in an iron mask.

It really seems as though The CW is looking to make the final season of The Flash as big as they possibly can. We’ve already learnt that Stephen Amell is going to be returning as Oliver Queen/the Green Arrow in the final season.
That was pretty huge news and I for one am glad he’s coming back one last time. Shipp would be yet another great addition to the show’s final season.

The cast list will be pretty interesting and I’m hopeful that all of our favourite characters will return for the final season. It just makes sense to have them all come back for one last hurrah.
We’re going to have to wait for the official confirmation to come from The CW, but as it stands, I have a feeling that this report will prove to be pretty much spot-on.
As far as the rest of the cast is concerned – the ones that are officially confirmed – we know that Grant Gustin will star as Barry Allen / Flash, with principal cast members Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Danielle Nicolet, Kayla Compton, and Brandon McKnight also returning from previous seasons.
It was also revealed that Jon Cor was promoted to series regular from his recurring status in the previous two seasons.
The Flash Season 9 will be available to watch on The CW starting from February 8th, 2023. So, we don’t have too long to wait before the final season starts to air!
