Jessica Jones might no longer be in the new Daredevil show on Disney Plus. It’s being reported that the character is going to be replaced by an iconic Marvel hero. So, who is this iconic Marvel Comics hero? It’s being reported that the Punisher is going to be making his big Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) comeback in Daredevil: Born Again. Now, this is a report from a relatively untested source, but we have been told in the past that Jon Bernthal is due to return to the MCU as Frank Castle (aka, The Punisher).
This new report comes to us via KC Walsh on Twitter. Walsh is claiming that Krysten Ritter’s Marvel character was set to be in the series. However, they’re going to be replacing the character with The Punisher. It seems as though Marvel Studios is saving Jessica for something else. Here’s what Walsh had to say on the matter:
I know I was in denial about this but it sounds like another popular character will show up as well due to a scheduling conflict as it appears they will take the rumored role Jessica Jones had

KC Walsh’s followers then tried to guess which character he was referring to. This was when Walsh just posted a gif of Jon Bernthal’s Punisher. This seems to be indicating that Ritter was due to appear in the show. However, due to scheduling conflicts, she’s had to drop out of the series, and Marvel Studios has turned to Jon Bernthal to get him to return as Frank Castle in the upcoming Daredevil series.

This all comes after we were informed that Bernthal was in talks with Marvel to reprise The Punisher in the MCU. This is pretty big news because viewers – including Thomas Jane who previously played the character – are huge fans of Bernthal’s take on the character in the Netflix shows. He first played the character in Daredevil Season 2. The Punisher then got his own series on Disney Plus, which I thought was pretty darn good.

This new Daredevil series sounds like it’s going to be something very different. Actor Charlie Cox has revealed that it will be a reboot. It’ll be different in tone from the original Netflix series. However, it will have similarities. One of the main similarities between the two shows is that it’ll star Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin and Elden Henson as Foggy Neslon.
It seems as though Bernthal will also be returning as his Marvel character in the series, which is terrific news if this turns out to be true. We’re just going to have to wait and see what will happen with this series. The show will also be 18 episodes long, which will make it the longest Marvel series ever made. The show will be released in the spring of 2024. There’s no official release date for the series, but it will be part of the MCU’s Phase 5. This was all revealed by Marvel President, Kevin Feige, during Marvel’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con.
