James Marsden played Cyclops in the very first X-Men movies, and I – like many people – thought he was perfect for the role.
However, the films’ scripts didn’t really give him the opportunity to show what he could do in the role.
Cyclops was often forgotten about in those movies and that really was a shame.
The character was then played by Tye Sheridan in the latest X-Men movies.
He was fine in the recent movies, but again, it felt like his character was a bit of an afterthought.
Anyway, James Marsden was asked in a recent interview with Screen Rant whether he would ever consider returning to the role.
This was when he revealed that he would “be a fool” not to accept the role in the MCU should the opportunity arise.
Should James Marsden get to play Cyclops in the MCU?

I look at those three movies I was in, and they became a huge part of my life. It was a family, all of them. I was very grateful. It was forty years at the time, of backstory and iconic characters, beloved characters. So I’d be a fool to say no to that, of course, I wouldn’t.
So who knows where the universe goes. Feige is still a friend of mine, and we talk occasionally, but you just don’t know where it’s going to go. Right now it’s with all the young ones, all the kiddos. But I would never be opposed to going back to that. I hold a special place in my heart for that experience.
I really would love to see James Marsden play a version of Cyclops in the MCU.
That said, I’m not sure whether Kevin Feige would ever agree to that.
However, there are rumours he’s been desperately trying to get Hugh Jackman to return as Wolverine.
So, who knows what could happen in the MCU’s future.
