James Gunn is, reportedly, preparing to make one, if not two, secret DC Films projects, which is great news because the filmmaker seems to work well with Warner Bros. Pictures. This news comes to us via a huge exclusive article that The Hollywood Reporter published not too long ago. This article was stuffed with interesting information about the future of DC Films, and it seems like it’s going to be an interesting time for us DC fans.
So, according to THR’s report, Gunn is currently prepping one, maybe two, secret DC Comics projects. It seems as though these projects are going to be movies. However, they could end up being TV shows. We already know that Gunn is working on the second season of Peacemaker, which is the DC Comics show he made for HBO. That first season was a huge success, and we cannot wait to see the second season. However, it sounds to me as though these DC projects are going to be different. I’m also not sure whether Gunn’s working on The Suicide Squad 2. I think it might be something completely different.

Here’s what The Hollywood Reporter had to say about Gunn’s secret DC Comics projects:
And The Hollywood Reporter can exclusively report that James Gunn, the filmmaker behind Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy movies as well as Warners’ DC-based The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, is angling for his own new DC project (or two).
Sources tell THR that Gunn and producer Peter Safran are in talks with Warners for a mystery movie, possibly more, that Gunn would tackle.

So, it certainly sounds like these projects that Gunn is pitching to Warner Bros are different from what he made before. I’ve heard that Warner Bros Discovery’s leadership loves Gunn and wants him to stay on and make as many projects for DC as possible. It also seems as though Gunn actually enjoys working with DC Films and loves making these DC movies and TV shows.
Now, what projects could Gunn be working on behind the scenes? My guess is that he’s going to do something with a DC character that’s not too well known. He loves working with fringe characters, and there are certainly a lot of those in DC’s canon. The thing I’d love him to do from a personal standpoint is a Mr Miracle movie. I love the character, and he deserves much more love in live-action.
