James Gunn Says Superhero Films Are Pretty Boring Now

James Gunn has said that he’s starting to find superhero movies rather boring these days, which is interesting considering he’s making some.

Gunn revealed this during a recent interview with SFX Magazine, and you know what, I get where he’s coming from.

The writer/director is currently working on the Peacemaker series for HBO Max.

He’s also about to release this DC Comics superhero movie, The Suicide Squad.

When you look at Gunn’s work, you can always tell that he wants to make something slightly different and entertaining.

He certainly did that with his Guardians Of The Galaxy movies, and he looks set to do the same thing with The Suicide Squad.

However, the other ones that have been released lately have bored him a bit.

Here’s what James Gunn had to say about the current crop of superhero movies that are being released today that he’s finding to be rather boring:

They’re mostly boring to me right now! [Laughs]. I loved them at the beginning and there are still people trying to do different things [with them], so it’s not a 100 percent rule, but a lot of them are boring.

So, it seems as though Gunn finds that there are some people who are trying to do interesting things with the genre.

However, as far as he’s concerned, the majority of these films are a bit on the dull side of things.
