James Gunn confirms support for Zack Snyder‘s cause in SnyderCon this April 28-29 in ArtCenter Hillside Campus and 30th in Universal City Plaza. In what appears to be a ‘closure’ event for Snyder’s time with DC movies, the filmmaker brings his DC films back to theatres for a cause.
First, with the post #fullcircle on Twitter, Snyder will host an event that will showcase three of his movies starring Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, together with stars from the SnyderVerse Justice League. The three actors also appeared on the director’s social media account in follow-up teaser posters for the event.
Many fans expressed support for the event now called Full Circle, a Special Three-Day Celebration of the Snyderverse Trilogy. The tickets sold out in minutes last March 24th, and all proceeds are going to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).
The SnyderVerse fans have been very vocal and intense in their support of Snyder’s vision of DC stories. Needless to say, James Gunn’s upcoming DC slate has been subject to much negative feedback, especially when he made it official that Cavill and Affleck will definitely not be a part of the universe he and Peter Safran are creating.
Interestingly, directors Gunn and Snyder’s relationship seem not affected by the online animosity among the fans. While there are those ready to welcome Gunn’s reset or soft reset, there are also those who are still hopeful that Snyder’s DC vision will somehow still get its chance to push through.
Despite the split in fan perception, Gunn appears to have the intention to attend if not for the anticipated press engagement that the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 entails. As Gunn’s last project with Marvel Studios, GOGV3 comes into theatres on May 5th. There will be expected press junkets for the third Guardians movie. More importantly, this is also the last movie of this Guardians team.
However, Gunn may not have the opportunity to come and watch the SnyderCon but he definitely will support the event’s cause in a way that will still significantly count.

If I wasn't going to be slammed with Vol. 3 press, why not? But I'm definitely donating!
— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) March 25, 2023
In response to a fan’s query on whether he would be there at the SnyderCon, James Gunn said on his Twitter account:
If I wasn’t going to be slammed with Vol. 3 press, why not? But I’m definitely donating!
All ticket sales will be for the benefit of AFSP, the foundation that has been a great part of Snyder’s advocacy ever since he lost his own daughter years ago. Those dark days of his life made him resolve to do everything he can to prevent other families from going through what he did.
What happens during the SnyderCon:
- The first day is Friday, April 28th, with a 5pm screening of Man of Steel
- The second day is Saturday, Saturday, April 29th, with a 3pm screening of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition
- The third day is Sunday, April 30th, with a 1pm screening of Zack Snyder’s Justice League
- All screenings will be followed by a question and answer segment with director Zack Snyder and special guests. Each Q&A will also be live-streamed.

There are those who say that the event is also a way for Zack Snyder to offer closure for his time with the DC characters. That and his symbolic final curtain call for his SnyderVerse. Many are also under the impression that he is also doing this to let the fans know that he really is ok.
He has, for the most part, painted his DC canvass, so to speak. It can never be erased from cinema history. Many fans cherish the release of the Snyder Cut of Justice League on HBO. Even Ben Affleck has said that it is his highest-rated performance in his time as an actor so far.
Snyder’s main contribution is the unforgettable characters he built. The actors matched the DC characters from head to toe. Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and even Ezra Miller’s Flash are still from his era. Both still have their respective movies coming out this year. Ray Fisher shone brightest in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Now, the actor works with Snyder once more for a new universe.
James Gunn will bring a new universe forward. There is still much to be done. Not everybody will absolutely rave about all the movies that DC Studios will deliver in the future. There isn’t a movie studio out there who’s films have both done well at the box office and performanced well with film critics.
Marvel Studios was the closest to getting to that point, but the MCU’s Phase 4 put a spanner in the works when it came to both box office performance and the critical consensus of their films.
What’s possible is that there is a good number of audience who likes what they see. SnyderCon happens by the end of April, and by the beginning of May, people will see Gunn’s last Guardians movie.
