James Gunn & Peter Safran Named Heads Of DC Studios

James Gunn and Peter Safran are now the co-CEOs of DC Studios, the new DC division set up by Warner Bros Discovery. This news was revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, and I have to say that it’s a bit of a shock, well, to me at least. There have been a bunch of names on the list of potential new leaders of DC Studios. However, I never really believed that James Gunn would end up being one of the top men at DC.

I think having a co-leadership is a really good way to go. I feel as though Gunn and Safran might turn out to be brilliant CEOs for the newly-formed DC Studios. It’s certainly a bold move on Warner Bros Discovery’s behalf. However, I’m hoping that it’s one that will end up coming off for everyone involved.

I mean, Warner Bros Discovery really needs a win right now, and I feel as though bolstering their DC Comics movie and TV output is exactly what they need. They need these upcoming DC Comics projects to really succeed and make bucketloads of cash. The only way they can do that is by making people want to go back to the cinemas to watch their new movies over and over again. They also need to make the very best DC Comics shows that will make people want to subscribe to their streaming platform (HBO Max), or make networks such as Netflix and Apple buy the streaming rights to these new series,

It’s going to be really interesting to see what they end up coming up with together. I’m hoping to see more inventive and unique films to be released under the leadership of a filmmaker like Gunn. Safran is a movie producer and has worked with Gunn on several projects, including the likes of Peacemaker, The Suicide Squad, The Belko Experiment and PG Porn, a web series created by Gunn and his brothers, Brian and Sean. So, it seems as if James and Peter go way back.

I will say that it’s not going to be easy for the pair to try and get audiences and critics back on their side. There are so many fires that Gunn and Safran need to put out. One of the big ones is what to do with Ezra Miller and The Flash movie.

We’ve just learnt that Henry Cavill is back as Superman, so it seems as though there’s some good news there. There’s also the Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom movie, which sounds like is a bit of a mess and needs sorting out. So, they have a lot on their plate, and they’ve only just started in the job. I say, good luck to the both of them! They’re going to need it.
