Guardians Of The Galaxy and Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2’s director, James Gunn has just shot down yet another popular fan theory.
Gunn did this whilst replying to a fan on Twitter who asked him whether there was any truth behind the rumours that Captain America (played by Chris Evans) is Star-Lord’s grandfather.
However, The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker director didn’t waste too much time in calling the fan theory “Hogwash”.
Gunn also noted the fact that we’ve seen Star-Lord’s grandfather in the Guardians movies.
He was played by Gregg Henry, which is the case to be honest.
That said, after the events of Loki, the timeline is going to be a bit all over the place.
So, there could very easily be a universe or a branch of the timeline in which Captain America was Star-Lord’s grandfather.
James Gunn shoots down a popular Guardians Of The Galaxy fan theory
Hogwash. @GreggHenry88 plays his grandfather in a significant role. His other grandfather would be whoever brought Ego into this world. Plus, Meredith Quill was born long after 1945 when Cap went into the ice. https://t.co/7o6IYrBVwR

Here’s what James Gunn had to say about Star-Lord’s real grandfather:
@GreggHenry88 plays [Star-Lord’s] grandfather in a significant role. His other grandfather would be whoever brought Ego into this world. Plus, Meredith Quill was born long after 1945 when Cap went into the ice. So Gregg Henry is Chris Evans? Also, Quill’s grandpa was still way too young to have been fighting in WWII.
This all comes after Karen Gillan revealed that she will be returning to play Nebula in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3.
Gunn has also revealed that Vol. 3 is going to be a “huge” third movie.
It’ll also be his last Guardians movie, however, I’m not sure whether it’ll be his last Marvel film.
We’ll have to wait and see what happens on that front.
Gunn said: “Our designers & visual development geniuses are busy creating new, fantastic designs of other worlds & alien beings.
“I’m not sure the galaxy is big enough for all this magic. This. One. Is. Huge. I’m excited.”
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 1 and Vol 2 are available to watch on Disney Plus right now.
