James Gunn just loves chatting to fans on social media, and he’s been at it again on Instagram talking to fans about a possible Suicide Squad Batman crossover in the DCEU.
Gunn is hard at work directing The Suicide Squad, which he also wrote, and he was answering fans’ questions about his DC Comics movie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and just life in general.
One fan asked: “Did you and Matt discuss villain crossovers between The Batman and The Suicide Squad?”
Gunn’s response was rather interesting since he didn’t shoot down the possibility of a sort of crossover over between his and Matt’s movies.
Here’s what James Gunn had to say about whether he and Matt discussed villain crossovers in their DC Comics movies:
“Nope. But I think he knows who’s in my script.”
First off, it sounds like Matt Reeves may have got to read James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad script, and for that fact alone, I’m really jealous.
Secondly, it sounds like they’re going to try and keep things separate in the DCEU moving forward.
Sounds like The Suicide Squad and The Batman will be totally separate

Gunn’s The Suicide Squad will be its own thing, as will Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
This is a very different approach to these DC Comics movies, which used to all be tied together.
However, it’s looking more and more like they’re trying to keep them all separate and just focus on making good movies first and foremost.
That’s something that they didn’t really do in the past. It was more about making the most ‘explody’ and ‘fan-service-y’ movies.
Hopefully, this means that The Suicide Squad and The Batman will be excellent movies.
One thing they definitely do share is the definite article ‘The’. I kind of like that.
