James Bond producer Eon Productions seems to have passed on Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the next double-o agent. Ever since Daniel Craig retired his version of the MI6 agent, Eon Productions have been looking at new potential candidates for the next series of films. Rumours have talked about the possibility of Regé-Jean Page, Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Luke Evans and many more.
The role is a role of a lifetime. Being a 007 has propelled many actors to stardom. Of course, we can’t forget Sean Connery; he has been an icon for that role ever since.
While every actor has been in the shadow of Connery, no one can really deny that almost every actor who took the name James Bond has been a star even beyond the world of being a super spy. Timothy Dalton, Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig were pretty much icons themselves. The only question was which was your favourite.
Just this January, we reported that Aaron Taylor-Johnson might get the iconic role. He was able to meet with Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, and so far, it sounded like it was going in Taylor-Johnson’s direction. Nothing was final, though.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson Might Not Be James Bond After All

Entertainment reporter Jeff Sneider said in The Hot Mic Podcast with John Rocha:
Here’s the one I heard today that was interesting. Less of a scoop other than just a ray of hope, maybe. I’ve heard Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s not a lock for Bond. I don’t think it’s right for him. It’s not that I don’t think he’d make a good Bond, but I don’t know if he needs it.
At the moment, we don’t have an actual reason why Taylor-Johnson was not chosen for the role. Although, what Sneider said is “not a lock.” In other words, Eon Productions are still looking, but nothing is final.
Just a week ago, we reported that former Superman Henry Cavill is in talks to be a villain in the next bond film. But after Sneider’s report, it seems that Cavill is again in the running to be the next 007.
I do have to say that Cavill does fit the role, and his fans do want him to be the next James Bond. He has been a superspy before in another film called The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015), directed by Guy Ritchie. Not only that, but he has been a secret agent villain too in Mission Impossible: Fallout (2018) opposite Tom Cruise. Because of these previous roles, it’s very easy to see The Witcher actor take the role of James Bond.
Eon Productions is still looking for the new James Bond

While it is disappointing to learn that Aaron Taylor-Johnson might not get the role, it only means that Eon Productions is taking care of their franchise. They can’t make a mistake in getting the new James Bond.
While there is nothing wrong with Taylor-Johnson as a possible James Bond, he does fit the requirements Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have been looking for. They need an actor younger than 40 years old and must be taller than 5-foot-10. So, we wonder, what is the reason? Why not him?
One possible reason is the 10-year plan Eon Productions have for the new James Bond. The actor must be locked in to keep the role for a decade. It’s a long lock-in period for any actor. Some actors don’t like to be held in a franchise for long periods of time. It could limit their range of choices in the long run.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s career is on the upside. We’ve seen him recently in Bullet Train with Brad Pitt. He’s going to be the lead star in a Sony/Marvel film called Kraven The Hunter. He’s also starring in The Fall Guy with Ryan Gosling and a remake of Nosferatu with Bill Skarsgård.
Following up on Craig is not going to be easy. Craig’s tenure as 007 has earned Eon Productions $3.9 billion at the box office. Looking for the new Bond is not as easy as it seems. Maybe they could get Cavill as the new Bond, but then again, he is pretty busy with Warhammer 40k at Amazon.
